“As the Steelers work to restructure contracts and manuever below the salary cap, the circumstances are dictating the twilight of Ward’s 14-year career. On the books, he has one year and $4 million left on his current contract. On the field, Ward also took a backseat to youngsters Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown, posting his lowest receiving totals since his rookie season in 1998.”
Remember when Philly had Maclin and DeSean Jackson and everyone was hypnotized by Jackson’s speed? And then their careers started to play out and we saw that DeSean was a one trick pony fully capable of self-destructing. That led to the realization that Maclin was in fact the better of the two receiving weapons.
Are we seeing the same sort of thing happen in Pittsburgh? Mike Wallace doesn’t have Jackson’s allergic reaction to getting tackled as DeSean but we are now seeing that Antonio Brown is a do it all kind of receiver. I’m more scared of Antonio Brown than I am Mike Wallace.
