And with the 32nd pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the World Champion New York Giants select DAVID WILSON.
The final pick on the night. The Super Bowl defending champs went with a running back, David Wilson. The video montage showed that he isn’t afraid to take a hit and fast. Mike Mayock says he has to learn how to block and run routes.
The Giants know how to draft. When they take a player your ears perk up. My ears are perked. They are in need of some running back help and they have a nice running back bloodline.
And there you have it, the entire first round of the draft and and blizzard of trades.
Whew!
What did you think?
And with the 31st pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select DOUG MARTIN.
The Bucs already got a fantastic safety, Mark Barron, earlier in the draft and now they are taking the second running back on the day. It’s Doug Martin from the land of the smurf turf. He is said to have great patience and his comp is Matt Forte. Should be a nice compliment to bruiser LeGarrette Blount.
Tampa Bay, putting the pieces together.
And with the 30th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the San Francisco 49ers select A.J. Jenkins.
Michael Crabtree
Ted Ginn Jr.
Mario Manningham
Randy Moss
And now A.J. Jenkins. The Niners are working on that stable of receivers.
And with the 29th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the Minnesota Vikings select HARRISON SMITH.
Minnesota has been shooting around the board tonight. They finally found a spot at 29 where they take a safety who knows how to tackle. A safety from Notre Dame, reminds me of Tom Zbikowski. Even better, Harrison has already shown he naturally gets the position. A strong hard hitting safety will be a welcome addition to the Vikes secondary.
And with the 28th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the Green Bay Packers select NICK PERRY.
The Packers 2009 draft turned out big time with Clay Mathews. The Packers are going back to USC and grabbing Nick Perry. He’s a quick and powerful defensive end. Might play some outside linebacker. Mike McCarthy must be jazzed.
And with the 27th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the Cincinnati Bengals select KEVIN ZEITLER.
The Bengals back up a few spots and get Kevin Zeitler. I’ve already praised the Bengals move for gathering more picks this is just more of the same. Big offensive guard from Wisconsin. They are just building up for a run in the AFC North.
And with the 26th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the Houston Texans select WHITNEY MERCILUS.
Did they announce his name like merciless? How appropriate. The dude plays without his helmet. This Houston Texans defense was legit last year and now they add someone who had 16 sacks and nine forced fumbled last year. This defense is gonna be great.
And with the 25th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the New England select DONT’A HIGHTOWER.
Bill Belichick saw something he liked and he went and got it. This has to be the craziest New England draft to date, right? I mean, who expected this.
This guys is a defensive force. He is going to be fun to watch in the pros. I’m surprised he didn’t go earlier. Seemed like someone the Jets and Steelers would both like. Hightower could be the heart of this defense in a few short years.
And with the 24th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the Pittsburgh Steelers select DAVID DECASTRO.
Offensive guard from Stanford. Pretty good pick here.
Big Ben’s ankles just sent a gift basket to their personel department.
And with the 23rd pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the Detroit Lions select RILEY REIFF.
Riley Reiff, wasn’t he the guy who led police on a half-naked chase through Iowa City? And didn’t that happen before he was even a student there. Yeah, that should be a good pick. But in all seriousnes he is suppsed the be an NFL ready talent who can play on either side.
And with the 22nd pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the Cleveland Browns select BRANDON WEEDEN.
SURPRISE!!!!
The Browns draft a quarterback in the first round. I guess this is end of the line for Colt McCoy. Bummer I liked that plucky little QB.
I think John Gruden summed up Brandon Weeden best.
“He beat Robert Griffin 59 to 24, he beat Andrew Luck in the Fiesta Bowl, he beat Landry Jones, he beat Ryan Tannehill. I like Brandon Weeden, as you can tell. I would find something for him to do.”
